Coast to coast ride on 125cc motorcycles to raise funds for Two Wheels

Three names from the world of motorcycling are setting out on an 800 mile ride on 125cc motorcycles to prove small bikes can do big things and raise funds to support medical transport in Africa.

The riders are Kane Avellano, the youngest person to circumnavigate the globe on a motorcycle, Levana Wolf, automotive presenter and motorbike content creator and James Beddows founder & CEO of RideTo, the UK’s #1 platform for motorcycle training, will embark on the 800-mile journey from Brighton Pier to John O’ Groats over four days.

The intrepid team will be raising awareness and funds for motorcycle charity Two Wheels for Life. The programmes supported by the charity ensure health professionals have the right motorcycles, plus a package of fuel, maintenance and training so that they can reliably deliver vital healthcare to some of the 60% of people in sub-Saharan Africa who live in rural, hard-to-reach communities.

With a goal of raising at least £1400 – the price of one of the rugged motorcycles used by the community nurses supported by the charity – the team are encouraging followers to donate using their JustGiving page.

The entire ride will be filmed as a Top Gear style YouTube video series, with extra content including daily vlogs & behind-the-scenes footage, on-the-fly Individual bike reviews, and fundraising milestones. Content will be published on the RideTo YouTube channel, as well as shared by Two Wheels for Life, the riders’ own social channels, and partner media.

James Beddows, RideTo CEO says:

“The ride is all about showing the possibilities of two wheels. We’ve chosen Two Wheels for Life as the charity to support because they use small motorcycles to do big things, getting the kind of healthcare we take for granted in the UK to people who live in really challenging locations across Africa. I also want to challenge perceptions of what new riders can do on 125cc bikes. There’s so much to see across the UK, even a small bike offers the chance to have real adventures and embrace the freedom of two wheels without needing a big budget or lots of riding experience.”

Zoë Herron Coleman, Head of Communications and Partnerships, Two Wheels for Life says:

“RideTo have been supporting us for some time now and we love the ethos behind this fundraising ride. We hope it will get more new riders to see the possibilities of two wheels, inspiring them to have their own adventures and introduce a new generation of motorcyclists to the life-saving work Two Wheels for Life do using motorcycles to save lives across Africa.”
